The Mendelbahn cable car takes us from St. Anton in Kaltern up to the Mendel Pass. Even here, at the transition between Nonstal and Überetsch, there is a beautiful panorama, from the Fleimstal Alps to the Brenta Group. We head north, following the signpost to Penegal (no. 500). We hike upwards through the autumnal forest on a beautiful path, which is unfortunately extremely covered with roots - so caution is paramount!
Again and again, when the forest thins out, we enjoy magnificent views of the Bolzano and Caldaro region in its autumnal dress. After a while, we reach the Penegal - the mountain is famous for its viewpoint, which was even visited by Emperor Franz Joseph. There is also a restaurant and a hotel here, as well as several radio and TV broadcasting stations. Our hike continues northwards on a more pleasant, wider and better-laid path, which is sometimes a forest road and sometimes a forest promenade. First down into the gorge of the Furgglauer Scharte (Forcolana) above Eppan, then up again to our actual destination, the Prinzwiesen.
This is a clearing in the middle of the larch forest: the 'Bait del Prinz', or Prince's Hut, is also located here. Despite the name, it's just a dilapidated wooden hut with holes in it that looks as if it won't be able to withstand the next strong gust of wind (update: that's what happened, and there's nothing left of the hut now). But the clearing has its charm and we stop here to enjoy the autumn sun and the sandwiches we've brought with us before heading back to the Mendel Pass.

Experience the most beautiful nature around Lake Kaltern
The Rastenbachklamm gorge, between Altenburg and Lake Kaltern, is an impressive natural monument with its waterfalls and pools, ivy-covered trees, fallen trunks and rippling cool water. It is one of the five biotopes in Kaltern and, as a point of reflection 'Courage', is also part of the Peace Trail.
The gorge can be easily reached from our chalets. Either on foot or by car.
Überetscher Hut
A beautiful sun terrace and is open from spring to fall (around May to November). The hut is famous for its regional specialties, which are prepared with passion by the innkeepers.
The Überetscher Hütte or Rifugio Roen (1,775 m) is located on a small terrace on the Mendelkamm ridge, slightly north-east of the summit of the Roen (2,116 m) and offers a wonderful view of South Tyrol and the Etschtal valley. The Überetscher Hütte is located in the middle of a real hiking paradise and is the starting point or base for a variety of tours, which you can combine and arrange according to your requirements and fitness level. Numerous well-marked hiking trails lead to the various peaks and sights in the surrounding area.
The beauty - an unusual amount of water
Nestled in the mild Adige Valley, 'The Blue Monster' golf course awaits you with nine challenging golf holes on over 10,000 square meters of green.
The newly designed golf course comprises a 9-hole course and is located on the edge of the tourist stronghold of Eppan in the south of Tyrol. Perfect greens and many small lakes, surrounded by a fantastic mountain backdrop, will delight every golf lover.
The extremely flat topography and the relatively high groundwater level were decisive factors in the planning work and the main reason for creating a course with plenty of water. The artificial lakes also serve as a water reservoir for the golf course. A positive side effect of the many water areas is that they make a significant contribution to the landscape and ecological enhancement. Furthermore, additional so-called extensive areas complement the golf course and create a unique natural landscape.
